When Nora signed up for an evening course in furniture repair, she imagined leaving work full of energy and spending hours in the workshop. She wanted to repair an old chair from her kitchen. Buying a new one would have been easier, but she liked the idea of making something useful with her hands.

The first week did not match her plan. After answering messages all day, she found it difficult to follow the teacher's instructions. She rushed through one task and made a wooden leg too short. On the bus home, she wondered whether the course had been a mistake.

Instead of leaving, Nora spoke to the teacher. He suggested choosing one small goal for each class. She also began taking a short walk between the office and the workshop. The walk did not give her extra time, but it helped her stop thinking about work.

By the fourth week, the chair was still unfinished. However, Nora could now explain which tools she needed and why. When another student struggled with a loose joint, she showed him how to hold the pieces together. For the first time, she noticed what she had learned rather than what remained to do.

Nora still arrived tired on some evenings. She no longer expected every class to feel easy. Her aim was now to leave each session understanding one thing better, even if the chair had to wait.
