On Thursday evening, Ana and Leo arrived home late. They were hungry, but neither of them wanted to go to the supermarket. Ana opened the fridge and found eggs, half a tomato, some cheese, and a small bowl of rice from the day before.
“This is not much,” Leo said. Ana laughed and took out an onion. She cut the onion and tomato while Leo warmed the rice in a pan. Then they mixed the rice with the vegetables and added two eggs.
The meal needed more flavor, so Leo looked in a cupboard. He found some herbs in a little jar. Ana put some cheese on top, and they covered the pan for a few minutes.
They ate their dinner by the window. It was simple, but warm and colorful. Leo wrote the idea in a notebook: “Rice, vegetables, eggs, cheese.” The next week, they made the same meal for a friend, who asked for the recipe.
